Gift Giving is HARD. Is it just me, or do a lot of our naming conventions for music genres begin to get a bit redundant and strange?
NEWS:
I’m trying really hard to finish up the rest of Vol.1 so I will be picking the pacing of posting back up. :]
Just so you know whats going on with this “Alt Universe” comic, I’ve decided that I wanted to try something new on days I can’t get the normal story up. (Instead of putting up journal strips or just posting a WOI on the other site.) I feel like it’s a shame that sometimes the story doesn’t necessarily lend a hand to character development and welcoming one off jokes that anyone could get even with out the story. That being said, from time to time I’m going to do these “gag a day” type strips that explore the idea of the characters having “normal lives.” Basically, what if they weren’t fighting pop villains and demons and such. What if they were more like us? I hope you like this idea. I spent most of yesterday working out little kinks with it as well as wrote a hand full of strips. :]
Happy Holidays Everyone! SEE YA WEDNESDAY!
friends now... maybe I should
get her a present too...
Music is a good
gift...I wonder
what is she into?
Perfect.

[ ALT. does NOT have a set schedule at this time. So, this is a good way to keep up with recent posts. ]

sooo much PINK lol
Heh, yeah, when I do these “Alt Universe” strips, each character will be a monochromatic color which represents them. ie Cadence: Pink, Autumn: Purple, Joseph: Blue.
Blue doesn’t seem to represent dirt, despair, and whale killing.
…I miss the air whales.
Heh, TRUE, but it’s more like he’s the opposite of Cadence… it’s a bit stereotypical Boy/Blue & Girl/Pink… but whatever.

haha, what did you do that is PS? Regardless its the opposite in actual color, i mean it more as the boy/girl stereotype. Though, that’s not a terrible green either.
It really isn’t!
I actually am a student of sociology at the moment, so gender pigeon-holing has started to bother me – to a point. I mean, the whole blue/pink thing is socialized =P
Fun fact: back in 17th century France, it was considered the epitome of manliness to wear frilly shirts, wigs, and powdered make-up. Funny how things change XD
I studied tons of similar things in college while I was getting my Psych degree and agree with you on the whole gender thing. It gets rather annoying to me as well, but at the same time, there is a psychology to colors that makes people feel more comfortable or understanding of things based on social queues. For instance, in the case of this comic, using colors that people have familiarized as the “stand boy/girl colors” clue people into what to feel about the characters. I’m obviously trying to create a place where Cadence and Joseph have a similarity of sorts.. making people comfortable with it with subtle things like color, is just one way to continue that.
Also, Joseph being similar to me in character/design, I personally like blue.. so it just made sense for me to make him that color… BUT green was a runner up actually. Idk, maybe I’ll play with the green before I post Wednesday’s post… at the same time, I’m seeming to get bored of blue as well. lol
You’re absolutely right on the social cues. I guess I’m just at that point where people are making me mad, so I’m being the change I want to see? I tell you what though, that kind of idealism is not very profitable! XD
People never get it, but I like Orange. I find it warm and energetic. But, apparently it’s not a boy colour (that’s not a poke at you, I promise – I like you XD)? Oh well.
I know what you mean about being the change you want to see. That’s why I started getting into philosophy and donating my time to organizations that could use help. I could stay mad at things and how they were going, or I could do something about it personally. I chose to do both.
Blue is the colour of depression and his balls. Blue it shall be.
I just posed to see what it would look like scrunched up on the side of he screen.
D:
Pink also used to be a color you’d dress a little boy in a few hundred years ago, but then that changed to blue.
I’m fascinated by things like this, how color meaning can be so different based on culture and time, or even just the concepts of color itself.. Red cards are used as funeral notices in some east asian countries, white is the color of death in some voodoo beliefs. In Japan, the concept of blue and green was that they were considered different shades of the same color family. (Look up Ao for better info)
It’s not a genre that many people are into. For very long.
Hey-oh!
LOL, Nice!
Apparently in this alt-universe Cadence’s boobs are trying to get away from her – while she’s in motion. It’s like opening a suicide (hey-oh) door.
Hmm?
I was really tired when I read it and it kinda looked like her boobs were pointing to the sides. I thought of it because I had seen somebody like that at work recently.
Side boobs?
Nah, more like two boobs that don’t really like each other.
lol
you meet the best and the weirdest people in that section, i actually met the ghost of Abraham there( not the prezzedent guy the one that tried to kill his son)
